Toyota Smart INSECT Concept unveiled in Japan

The Insect name is actually an acronym which stands for “Information Network Social Electric City Transporter” and this is a smart vehicle equipped with new technologies. Toyota says that when a person will approach the Smart Insect Concept, the car will run a facial recognition software to authenticate them and if it determines that you are the owner, it will flash its lights and say “Hello”.

According to the Japanese based automaker, when you will step inside Toyota’s latest creation, the Smart Insect Concept, a virtual agent will communicate with you and it will predict your intentions like starting the radio, the climate control or getting indications to various locations. The door locks and air conditioning can be controlled by the driver with a smart phone application from his home. Unfortunately Toyota didn’t release any more details on the Smart Insect Concept, except for its intention not to put the model into production.

BMW unveils i Pedelec bicycle concept

BMW has further strengthened its commitment to an electric mobility future by announcing the opening of its first i Store on July 25. To celebrate the event, the German auto giant has developed a new folding pedal-electric bike called the i Pedelec. Like the Voltitude, the new bike can be rolled along when folded to make getting on and off trains or buses, or in and out of elevators, a little less troublesome, and benefits from a geared electric hub motor, high performance batteries and disc braking at the front and rear. BMW also says that two folded i Pedelec bikes can be comfortably squeezed into the trunk space of its forthcoming i3 EV, and that their batteries can be charged while in there
